August 6, 2005 Saturday 3PM CT ( listen)
Biblical scholars believe the Mesopotamian marshland in southern Iraq once was the Garden of Eden, but in 1991, Saddam Hussein ordered the marshland drained to punish a Shiite uprising. Today, an international group of scientists is working with Iraqis to restore the ancient wetlands. This hour on Here on Earth, join Jean Feraca and her guests for a conversation about the importance of the Mesopotamian marsh.

Guest

  • Azzam (ah-ZAHM) Alwash (ALL-wash), Environmental Engineer, founder of Eden Again
  • Rich Beilfuss, a hydrologist with Baraboo's International Crane Foundation
  • Joy Zedler, University of Wisconsin ecologist
