  The Virgin of Guadalupe in New York

Almost 500 years ago, the dark-skinned Virgin of Guadalupe is said to have appeared to an indigenous Mexican Indian. In today's New York City, Mexican immigrants rely on her image to guide them through hardship and help mobilize their fight for their rights.
