State Sen. Chris Larson, D-Milwaukee, and incumbent Chris Abele are the primary election winners in the Milwaukee County executive’s race.
Larson finished more than 700 votes ahead of Abele, and the pair easily outdistanced two other challengers.
The former Senate minority leader has been depicting the county executive as too close to Gov. Scott Walker and business leaders. Larson said he’s very happy with the election results.

“I think it shows that people know we care about working families, and we’re going to fight for them,” he said.
Larson said protecting county parks and promising to listen will be his key issues. Abele said he’ll be inviting voters to look at his track record.
“I’ve had a lot of experience leading, managing budgets, hiring, firing, and being accountable for getting things done,” he said.
Abele said he’s also reduced the county’s debt and reformed the local mental health system from when Walker was Milwaukee County executive. The general election is in April.
