Fundraising special Hour Two

Program 02-02-00-B

To The Best of Our Knowledge
from Wisconsin Public Radio
There are lots of different ways to look at the world, and some of the most interesting are the unexpected ones, the ones that make us think about ordinary things in extraordinary ways. Where do you look for wildlife, for instance? Out in the country, or right downtown? In this hour, we'll introduce you the coyote's new favorite habitat, and give you a new notion of squirrels and catfish.

SEGMENT 1:
Anne Matthews tells Anne Strainchamps that wild creatures are moving back to the cities. Humans are encroaching more and more on previously wild land, so the predators are forced to share their space with us. As a result, we get mountain lions on the bike paths and eagles nesting on tall buildings. Matthews is the author of "Wild Nights."
SEGMENT 2:
Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Bart Simpson, visits with Jim Fleming. She talks about how they create "The Simpsons" and relives several of her favorite Bart moments. She also demonstrates a few tricks like throwing her voice into her stomach.
SEGMENT 3:
Journalist Burkhard Bilger talks with Steve Paulson about some of the Southern past-times he chronicles in his book "Noodling for Flatheads." "Noodling" is the practice of catching fish with your bare hands. Bilger also talks about a group of marbles wizards who call themselves The Roley Holers.
