HOORAY FOR HOLLYWOOD?

It's been described as the Nobel Prize of motion pictures:
the coveted Academy Award. One billion people around the world watch
the Oscars on TV every year. In this hour of To the Best of Our
Knowledge, the history and politics of the Academy Awards. Is
Oscar a white man's award? Also, Don Lafonataine he's "The
King of the Movie Trailer Voice-Overs."
SEGMENT 1:
Film critic & scholar Emanuel Levy grew
up on the movies. He tells Jim Fleming that in Israel they had
no television and so his parents would take him to the movies
once or twice a week. His love for movies is obvious in his book
"All About Oscar: the History and Politics of the Academy
Awards. Also, if you've ever seen a movie trailer you've heard
the voice of Don LaFontaine. "The King of the Movie
Trailer Voice-Overs" talks to Steve Paulson. So who else

SEGMENT 2:
Jill Sprecher is an optimist while her sister
Karen Sprecher is a pessimist. Or is it the other way around?
Jill directed "Thirteen Conversations About One Thing"
while Karen wrote the screenplay. They tell Steve Paulson the
movie reflects parts of their lives. Rick Lyman would probably
love to watch, but with someone else. His book "Watching
Movies: The Biggest Names in Cinema Talk about the Films that
Matter Most" tells of time spent with Woody Allen, Sissy
Spacek, Ang Lee and others, watching other peoples' films.
SEGMENT 3:
Alf Clausen is the composer for the long-running
animated television series "The Simpsons." That shows'
well-known penchant for poking fun at everything means Clausen
has been asked to parody some familiar movies. Clausen's work
is featured in a new book called "The Simpsons' Songbook."
