in 1969 i was a grad student at cal-berkeley. everyday i'd go to the libe to study and i would always sit across from an interesting looking woman. sometimes we'd talk, sometimes not. one day in april i did the same as always and asked the woman if she wanted to take a study break for coffee. we talked and then decided to go to the theater and then...

in may we decided to get married. in september we were married. and now we've been married for 32 years.

love at first sight? who knows what that means, but we both knew right away that we were right for each other. and we still know that.

by the way: i was a business student, and my wife was an undergrad art history major. why was she studying in the business school library on that fateful day? i was a vietnam vet who had just returned to school; she was an antiwar hippie protester. why would we even talk to each other? how could this happen in berkeley in 1969?

On valentine's day we'll be away. we'll be in a very romantic small inn in

st lucia celebrating our togtherness. again. still. as always.
