Police say a clinic in Chippewa County has been shut down by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
An outgoing voicemail message at the Cadott Medical Center on Thursday said it’s closed indefinitely. Robert Bell of the DEA’s Milwaukee District Office said agency investigators, along with the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation and Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department executed what’s called a “federal administrative inspection warrant” at the clinic Wednesday. Inspection warrants are conducted at facilities that distribute prescription narcotics.
Bell wouldn’t comment on what investigators were searching for or why the medical center was closed. Although, he said the DEA and state and local partners are concerned about the opioid epidemic and are fully committed to using all available tools to ensure the health and safety of the public.
