Clinton Gains 7th Wisconsin Superdelegate

Another Wisconsin superdelegate has announced his support for presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

Jason Rae, a member of the Democratic National Committee, announced his support for Clinton on Wednesday.

“I wanted to make sure to support the will of the people – and, to me, the greatest way to do that was making sure that I was backing the candidate that, at the end of the day, had the most pledged delegates from across the country heading in the national convention,” he said.

Clinton won four out of six primaries on Tuesday, including the states of California and New Jersey, which have a hefty number of delegates. Counting pledged delegates and superdelegates, Clinton has now secured the number required to clinch the nomination.

Rae, who is one of Wisconsin’s 10 Democratic superdelegates, said he’s optimistic about supporters of Vermont U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders — who won Wisconsin’s primary in April — shifting their support to Clinton this fall.

“It’s certainly rocky at the moment, but I believe at the end of the day we’ll really come together as a party,” he said.

Rae is the seventh Wisconsin superdelegate to support Clinton. One is supporting Bernie Sanders, and two more haven’t yet made their decision public.
