HD Radio News
Wisconsin Public Radio is happy to announce an additional feature of HD Radio for our listeners called "HD Multicasting". This technology allows WPR to transmit additional audio channels to your HD Radio receiver.

Our first multicast offering is a 24-hour HD2 Classical service for listeners to:
  • WERN-FM 88.7 in Madison
  • WHAD-FM 90.7 in Delafield, Milwaukee
  • WPNE-FM 89.3 in Green Bay
  • KUWS-FM 91.3 in Superior
  • WHLA-FM 90.3 in La Crosse
  • WHBM-FM 90.3 in Park Falls
  • WHHI-FM 91.3 in Highland
  • WHWC-FM 88.3 in Menomonie/Eau Claire
  • WHDI-FM 91.9 in Sister Bay
  • WHRM-FM 90.9 in Wausau
  • WLSU-FM 88.9 in La Crosse (without local shows)
More stations may be added to this list of stations carrying this new classical music service in the future as we continue to add HD Radio transmission and distribution equipment to our stations. Our staff is excited about this new opportunity to serve our listeners.
"It's a tremendous technological leap forward. Not only are all the hisses, pops and static removed, but now we can essentially double our service to listeners in these areas."
--- Steve Johnston, WPR director of engineering

The program schedule for the 24-Hour HD2 Classical service includes the existing Weekday 9am to 3pm, and Saturday 10am to 4pm periods of classical music broadcast by WPR's NPR News & Classical Music Network. In addition, we're happy to include recordings of The Milwaukee Symphony every Sunday at 2pm.

Programming for other days and times is provided by WPR's partners in the "Classical-24" network. For music listings and host information, See classical24.publicradio.org.

If you'd like to hear what our new service sounds like, but you don't yet own an HD Radio, visit our Live Web Streams webpage and listen in on our HD2 Classical stream.

"Wisconsin Public Radio is proud to be a pioneer in this new field of broadcasting. We're really looking forward to the new signals and services possible with this new technology."
- - Steve Johnston, WPR Director of Engineering & Operations
