In 1936, a New York City socialite embarked on a mission to bring a panda from China to the United States. Tackling mountains, rivers, foul weather, and hostile male explorers, Ruth Harkness succeeded in bringing the first panda to the U.S. This hour on Here on Earth, Jean Feraca talks with Vicki Constantine Croke (CROAK), author of "The Lady and the Panda: The True Adventures of the First American Explorer to Bring Back China's Most Exotic Animal."
