Mandela's Free: 20 Years Later
FEBRUARY 10, 2010 WEDNESDAY AT 3PM CT

Twenty years ago, Nelson Mandela was released from prison after having been incarcerated for 27 years. What gave South Africans the strength to keep up the struggle against apartheid during his incarceration? And what can South Africa do to keep Mandela's legacy alive in the future? Our old friend Harold Scheub joins us for this special occasion along with Invictus writer John Carlin.

Guest
  • Harold Scheub, Evjue-Bascom Professor of Humanities in the Department of African Languages and Literature at the University of Wisconsin-Madison
  • John Carlin, journalist and author, writer and interviewer for the 1999 episode The Long Walk of Nelson Mandela of the PBS series Frontline, and author of the book Invictus: Nelson Mandela and the Game That Made a Nation.
