U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson used his brief speech at the Republican National Convention Tuesday night to attack Democrats Russ Feingold and Hillary Clinton on national security. Johnson also praised GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.
Like many Wisconsin Republicans, Johnson has kept his distance from Trump this election year, but he praised Trump over the need to make America more secure.
“Donald Trump and Mike Pence understand that these must be America’s top priorities,” Johnson said. “They’ll be strong leaders.”

On a night that was ostensibly set aside to talk about the economy, Johnson’s entire speech attacked Feingold and Clinton on national security, saying neither recognized the seriousness of “radical Islamic terror.”
Johnson also attacked Feingold for voting against the Patriot Act when he was in the Senate.
