Marshfield Clinic Building Hospital, Cancer Center In Eau Claire

Officials Say Consolidating Operations At Eau Claire Location Will Drive Down Cost

By

The Marshfield Clinic has announced it will build a new hospital and cancer care center in Eau Claire.

The health care system plans to break ground next spring on a new hospital and 36,000-square foot cancer center. According to the Wisconsin Hospital Association health care costs in the Eau Claire area are some of the highest in the state. Marshfield Executive Director Dr. Narayana Murali said the new facility could change that.

“The only way you can lower the cost of care is if you bring all the three components, the outpatient care, the inpatient care, the plan as well as some of the post-acute care all under one umbrella,” said Murali.

Marshfield Clinic is still working out details on how many beds the hospital will hold or what the hospital will cost, Murali said, but they will be announced when the city of Eau Claire gives final approval to the project.
