Plant-A-Tree-In-Wisconsin Thank-you Gift
Thanks for considering a sustaining membership to WPR!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What does it mean to be a "sustaining member"?
A: A sustaining membership is one that does not need to be renewed each year; it continues indefinitely, until you ask us to stop. It takes the form of monthly withdrawals from your bank account or monthly charges on your credit or debit card. The benefit to you is that once you set it up, you don't have to think about it again and you can rest assured that you are always supporting the radio service you love. The benefit to WPR is that we don't need to send you renewal notices each year, and we can count on your ongoing support. Being a sustainer by electronic funds transfer (EFT, monthly withdrawals from your bank) is the most efficient for WPR (costs us less money and doesn't have the problem of credit and debit card expiration dates), so we hope you'll consider that. Any way you choose to become a sustainer is a great way and we thank you very much for it!

Q: Will a tree automatically be planted when I become a sustainer?
A: No. The tree is a thank-you gift that you need to select from the thank-you gift dropdown list on the pledge form. Since not everyone will choose this option, we didn't want to make it automatic.

Q: Where and when will my tree be planted?
A: Trees will be planted in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in northern Wisconsin in the springtime.

Q: What kind of tree will be planted?
A: A jack pine.

Q: How many trees can I plant?
A: One tree per sustaining membership.

Q: How will selecting the tree thank-you gift affect the tax-deductibility of my donation?
A: Selecting the tree thank-you gift will not affect the tax-deductibility of your donation.

Q: How much does the tree cost WPR?
A: WPR will pay approximately $1 or less for each tree (the exact amount depends on how many trees we order).

Q: Can I get a tree and also another thank-you gift for my sustaining pledge?
A: Yes. For example, if a book is being offered for a pledge of $120, you can become a sustainer at $10/month and get the book and also the tree. For the purposes of your pledge, the tree does not have a specific dollar amount attached to it like other thank-you gifts.

Q: If I give $120 or more and select the tree as a thank-you gift, will I still get the WPR MemberCard?
A: Yes. The WPR MemberCard, which gives you 2-for-1 deals at participating restaurants, bed and breakfasts, golf courses, and attractions, is an automatic benefit of membership for any pledge of $120 or more, and the selection of a thank-you gift does not change that.

Q: What’s the organization that plants them? Do they have a website?
A: The National Forest Foundation plants the trees. You can find out more about them here: http://www.nationalforests.org/.

Q: Will I now be added to the mailing list of the tree-planting organization and receive solicitations from them?
A: No. We do not share the personal information of our donors with other organizations, and we will not be sharing any donor information with the tree organization.

Q: I’m already a sustainer, can I get a tree?
A: Sure! Just call our membership office at 800-383-9772 and ask for one.
