Friday, February 1 was Ben Merens' last broadcast as host of At Issue. You'll find a letter from Ben to his listeners below. Please join us in thanking Ben for his 21 years of service to Wisconsin Public Radio and share your appreciation of Ben on the At Issue Facebook page. At Issue will continue with fill-in host John Munson for now.

We plan on continuing the many regular segments that listeners enjoyed and will evaluate options as the producers and interim host work together. We hope you'll continue to tune in and share your thoughts with John and his guests. If there are changes that you would like to see, please share them with us anytime by emailing Listener@wpr.org or by calling Audience Services at 1-800-747-7444.

A Note from Ben Merens

Dearest WPR Listeners:

It is said that the only constant in life is change and that is true for my life.

I want to thank you for listening, learning, laughing and crying with me over the past 21 years. We've had a good run together.

I'm still available to you through Twitter and at benmerens.com. There is lots of news to share there so "stay tuned."

Please know that you have done a great deal to make mine a wonderful life.

Sincerely,

Ben

The At Issue Team - Chris Malina, Ben Merens, and Katie Madsen

About Ben Merens

Ben Merens joined the Wisconsin Public Radio network in 1991 when he hosted the program Everybody's Business and also served as its producer. In 1995 Ben became producer of Conversations with Kathleen Dunn and he was also named Ideas Network fill-in host and election-night anchor. In 2003 he became host of At Issue with Ben Merens. The show is dedicated to current events and hard news, although some lighter fare and lifestyle issues are sprinkled in. He has been with Wisconsin Public Radio for 22 years and celebrated his ninth year as host of At Issue on June 3, 2012.

At Issue's signature program has become "Your Views on the News," the Friday four o'clock hour when listeners are invited to call in with their choice of the week's most significant news story. Additionally, the At Issue staff has reworked and brought back the "Job Line" at three o'clock on the first Wednesday of each month. Ben hosts an hour with economic news, job hunting tips and an open forum for people to post jobs or pitch themselves to potential employers.

Ben is an avid swimmer and is often in the pool at the YMCA near his home in north suburban Milwaukee prior to arriving at work.
