Merrill Public Schools Looking For New Leadership

Top Two Administrators Resign Abruptly This Week After School Board Launched Investigation

By

The top two administrators for the Merrill Area Public School District have resigned in the midst of investigations into their conduct by the school board, but the reasons for the investigations haven’t been revealed.

Superintendent Wally Leipart and Assistant Superintendent Michelle Jahnke both submitted letters of resignation to the Merrill School Board, according to separate news releases from the school district on Monday. Both administrators were placed on paid leave April 19, when the school board began its investigations.

Merrill School Board President Jen Seliger wouldn’t give a reason for the probes or talk about whether they were linked. She said they were investigating personnel issues for each of them that didn’t involve either crimes or students.

Seliger said because of the two resignations, the investigations will be dropped.
