Democratic leaders approved a revised state budget deal last night that would drop a tax on oil companies and collect more taxes from investors to make up the difference. It would also for the first time require all drivers to purchase auto insurance.

Early in the morning, 25 years ago today, a series of tornadoes hit portions of southern Wisconsin. The worst hit was Barneveld, in Iowa County. About 90 percent of the town was destroyed. Nine people were killed, and some 200 were injured. 93 homes were lost, and 64 were badly damaged. Mary Ann Meyers lived through the tornado, and still lives in Barneveld today.
