DAVE POTRATZ

Reporter

Dave Potratz has had an iron or two in the radio fire for more than three decades. His first broadcast was as a student at Hudson High School when he moderated a special program on local radio to inform the public about the need for a new High School - they got one.

Dave graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire where he was very active at then campus radio station WUEC-FM -- now part of the NPR News & Classical Music Network of WPR. He claims he was there, on-microphone, when WUEC first hit the airwaves in the mid-seventies. He served as Production Manager, Chief Announcer, and Student Station Operations Manager - and WUEC still survived!

Dave's radio journey has included a stint as Country Deejay ("I met Tammy Wynette once… nice lady!") and radio advertising salesperson.

For more than fifteen years now, Dave has been affiliated in various capacities with WPR and Wisconsin Public Television ("Radio with pictures…just kidding!"). He enjoys his regular evening on-air shift on the Ideas Network as well as filling in for afternoon newscasts on both radio services.
