SOME POLL OBSERVERS IN MILWAUKEE ASKED TO LEAVE WPR News - Some Poll Observers in Milwaukee Asked to Leave
Tuesday November 06, 2012 by Chuck Quirmbach

Milwaukee election officials say a couple of polling place observers have been asked to leave today, and several others have been warned.

"I believe there have been some occurrences where they have not been responsive to the chief inspectors' directives in terms of following the observer rules," says Neil Albrecht, the Executive Director of the city's Election Commission "The Government Accountability Board is very specific in terms of what observers can and cannot do at a voting site. The chief inspector has the ultimate authority of maintaining order at the voting site."

Albrecht says he doesn't know any partisan affiliation of the poll watchers who have been a problem. He says overall, the polling place observers at Milwaukee's roughly 200 voting sites have been enthusiastic and cooperative.
