ONEIDA SUING GREEN BAY OVER RECYCLING FACILITY WPR News - Oneida Suing Green Bay Over Recycling Facility
Friday November 16, 2012 by Patty Murray

The city of Green Bay is being sued by a corporation owned by the Oneida tribe of Indians.  The tribe is seeking to have a permit reinstated for a trash burning facility.

Other than statements released by the city and the tribe, neither side is publicly commenting while the suits wind their way through court.

The Oneida Seven Generations Corporation had been granted a permit to build what it calls a "trash recycling facility" on Green Bay's west side. Opponents call it an "incinerator."

Green Bay's city council granted the permit in the spring of 2011 but rescinded it this fall after vocal protests from constituents. Now the tribe has filed suit saying the council acted arbitrarily and unreasonably. Seven Generations wants the permit reinstated and is seeking four million dollars compensation for leg work done in preparation for the plant.
