REPORT GIVES WISCONSIN DOCTORS GROUPS GOOD MARKS WPR News - Report Gives Wisconsin Doctors Groups Good Marks
Friday December 28, 2012 by Kristen Durst

Wisconsin doctors are receiving good marks in an upcoming special edition of Consumer Reports.

The magazine rates the performance the state's largest 19 medical groups using information from the Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare Quality, a non-profit consortium of healthcare providers.

Mary Riordan is Director of Member Engagement at WCHQ. She says all of the Wisconsin health providers scored above the national average in every category in the report, "On average Wisconsin is consistently in the top ten in terms of healthcare quality. We just finished second nationally to Minnesota by a fraction so I think that everyone in Wisconsin should feel very good about our healthcare system and the report that highlights the 19 member organizations."

Consumer Reports rated each medical group from high to low performing in three categories: cancer screening tests, care for people 60 and older, and treating heart disease.

The Consumer Reports edition will be on newsstands or online in January. The article is also available at wchq.org.
