The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced a new set of fines for Ashley Furniture for unsafe working conditions.
The Wisconsin-based company has already received almost $2 million in penalties this year and the newest set of fines is more of the same. OSHA has now issued $431,000 in new penalties for safety violations at the Ashley Furniture facility in Whitehall.
The company’s headquarters in Arcadia has already received major fines this year for not protecting its workers from moving machine parts.

Rhonda Burke, representative for OSHA, said the Whitehall facility had similar problems.
“Ashley had not implemented the required safety procedures to prevent the machine operators from coming into contact with the operating parts of that machinery when they were doing things such as changing blades, cleaning machines, clearing jams, things of that nature,” she said.
In a press release, Ashley Furniture officials said they “strongly disagrees with and will vigorously challenge the proposed citations.”
