In fact, her personal history reads almost like the story of Gospel music itself. As a young women, she was the protege and confidante of Gospel legend Mahalia Jackson. Her career has spanned four decades and beyond and she has seen the release of more than 60 albums. She has received every music award imaginable including Grammy, Stellar and GMWA awards. She has packed churches and concert halls from coast to coast and sold countless records. With a career of over 55 years, she is undisputedly recognized as a pioneer of Gospel music, “The Queen of Gospel.”
