Sandy Delays Some Wisconsin Travelers

People traveling to the East Coast from Wisconsin should expect flight cancelations and delays at least through Wednesday morning. Dane County Regional Airport spokesman Brent McHenry advises travelers to pay close attention to changes in flight schedules, “I mean, I doubt you’ll get to the East Coast at this point, so my advice is to work with your airline as closely as possible. Be patient with them and work with them to reroute you or reschedule you as necessary.”

Airlines forced to cancel or delay flights are allowing passengers to change or cancel their tickets at no charge. Sandy Rowe is a spokeswoman with the Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee. She says rebooking a ticket online will be the quickest way to adjust travel plans this week, “I understand that the phone lines are rather crowded right now as people are trying to rebook, but I think the airlines to do make it fairly easy on their websites for people to cancel and rebook their flights.

Flights leaving Wisconsin for destinations other than the East Coast remain unaffected for now. Officials with the Austin-Straubel International Airport in Green Bay say travelers should be on the lookout for delays as the storm moves inland.
