At The Edge with Michael Brown
----------------------------------------------------

*Recently heard on At the Edge with Michael Brown was Lithuanian guitarist, Juozas Milasius. This controversial guitarist, composer and author of various performances has earned the reputation of the most uncompromising Lithuanian jazzman, entering the areas of total free, uncontrollable noise and bizarre sounds.

Slow is Juozas Milasius’ new album release. This album presents a contemplative set of minimalist solo pieces, characterized by a small dose of twang reminiscent of Marc Ribot and Bill Frisell. The bulk of the disc's nine tracks live up to its descriptively simple title, Slow. Slow is a meditative work, full of inventive, sonic landscapes. Milasius' approach is uncompromising and unconventional; a perspective both unique and intriguing. As a bonus, you can stream the entire disc with video enhancement on the artist’s website: Juozas Milasius.

Check out what At the Edge has to offer on WPNE 89.3 FM and WHND 89.7 FM from 10p-12mid every Monday. At the show’s website you will find weekly playlists and additional information At the Edge.

Jazz Odyssey with Chris Kuborn
----------------------------------------------------

*Recently featured on Jazz Odyssey with Chris Kuborn was the Chicago based Fusion band, The Renegades. The Renegades is made up of Paul Mutzabaugh (keyboards), Matt Ross (guitars), Frank Alongi (drums), and Jon Wegge (basses). All of the members are very active in the Chicago music scene. They have performed and recorded in many genres including: jazz, pop, country, blues/rock, gospel, etc. This wide range of proficiency allows for The Renegades to tackle their fairly complicated and musically demanding repertoire of original music. Formerly a more "straight ahead" jazz group, The Renegades' 2004 release, "Doppler Olympics", is the first record that represents their current progressive fusion sound. You can pick up this self published and self released band’s music at The Renegades.

Tune in to Jazz Odyssey each Wednesday on WPNE 89.3 FM and WHND 89.7 FM from 10p-12mid. Check out The Jazz Odyssey website for the weekly playlist at Jazz Odyssey.

Jazz Odyssey with Chris Kuborn can be heard every
Wednesday night from 10 p.m. to midnight

Kalihwiyo'se with Chris Powless and Richie Plass
----------------------------------------------------

*Kaliweyo’se host, Richie Plass would like to share some information about a historical story and walk event happening this summer:

In the mid 1800's, the Menominee of Wisconsin were removed from the Paygrounds located near Lake Poygan in central Wisconsin. The story of this process and walk is one of both Menominee and Wisconsin history. It also tells of the approach and attitude the United States government had towards all Indian people at that time. The Menominee Nation of Wisconsin signed a treaty with the United States of America ceding their lands. In November of 1838 the Menominee were then removed from this site to the site of their present reservation.

Richie Plass’ Menominee name is "Powekonnay", which translates to "One who changes his feathers" or as his research has shown, "Feather changer." This walk was first led Chief Waukechoen. Unfortunately after only a few days out, he was assonated which led to Chief Powekonnay taking over.

Because Richie carries the name of one of the leaders of this walk, he has decided to create this dedicational walk next summer. The walk will begin with an opening ceremony on June 1, 2010 and the actual walk will begin on June 2, 2010. Richie will be initiated at the site of the historical marker on the Paygrounds on the south end of Lake Poygan. The official name of the walk will be "Ateqnohkew Pemohneaw" which translates to "a walk that tells a sacred story."

More information about the story and the walk can be found on Richie’s website: Richie Plass or by emailing Richie at richieplass@yahoo.com.

In store for you each Thursday is Kalihwiyo’se heard on WPNE 89.3 FM and WHND 89.7 FM from 10p-12mid. Check out their website for weekly playlists and events in the northeastern Wisconsin region at Kalihwiyo'se.

Kalihwiyo'se with Chris Powless and Richie Plass can be heard every
Thursday night from 10 p.m. to midnight
