WPR's Southwest Regional Office and studios are located in Whitney Center on the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse campus. (See City Level and Street Levels maps below for details.) Transmitters for both WLSU and WHLA are located in La Crescent, MN. WHHI's transmitter is located near Highland, WI; WSSW broadcasts from a transmitter near Platteville, WI.
La Crosse is accessible from several major thoroughfares, including Interstate 90 and Highways 14, 16, 33, 35 and 53. The UW-La Crosse campus is located near the city's center, just north of Main Street, between Losey Blvd and West Avenue.
There are two ways to campus from I-90: Take exit 5, Hwy 16 south; turn right on La Crosse Street (which is still Hwy 16); turn left on Forest Ave. (which is the angled street just before the West Ave. intersection). Go two blocks, then turn left on Badger Street, to the intersection with 14th Street. Or, from I-90, take exit 3, Hwy 35 south, and follow the signs through town; this eventually becomes West Ave. At La Crosse Street, turn left (east) and take a right on Forest Ave. (which will be the first street to the right). Go two blocks, then turn left on Badger Street, to the intersection with 14th Street. Coming from the south, follow Hwy 35 north (West Ave.) from South Ave (Hwys 14-61-35). Proceed to Badger Street; turn right, three blocks to the intersection with 14th Street. ![]() City level map for locating WPR's La Crosse Studios ![]() Street level map for locating WPR's La Crosse Studios
