WHAT: FCS American Classics concert

Join Kathleen Dunn on Sunday, March 28 at the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee. She will be narrating Copland's Lincoln Portrait at the Festival City Symphony American Classics concert.
In this concert, Festival City Symphony will present two of the treasures of American music by Aaron Copland, his Lincoln Portrait, narrating the life of one of our greatest presidents, and his ballet score Appalachian Spring. Samuel Barber's moving and evocative Adagio for Strings and his Overture to School for Scandal will start the concert.

Wisconsin Public Radio invites you to donate your gently used books in celebration of National Library Week to the Wauwatosa Library (North Avenue & 76th Street) on Saturday, April 24 from 10:00 am to Noon.

The comedy/variety radio program Hotel Milwaukee is back on-air with a reunion show on Friday, April 2 from 7-8 p.m. on Wisconsin Public Radio’s Ideas Network stations.
The reunion show was taped in front of 500 Hotel Milwaukee fans at the Turner Hall Ballroom in downtown Milwaukee. After an eight-year hiatus, the show featured the original cast, including Art Kumbalek, Marcie Hoffman, Mike Neville, Bill Clifford, Jeana Stillman and Jonathan Wainwright. The show was funded by the David and Julia Uihlein Charitable Foundation and raised funds for City Year Milwaukee (CYM), a mentoring program under AmeriCorps.

Met Opera Radio Broadcasts Return to Milwaukee on WHAD HD
The passion, love, music and drama of the Metropolitan Opera will return to Milwaukee airwaves on 90.7-2, WHAD-HD Radio. The Live from the Met broadcasts begin December 12 as part of WPR Classical, the 24/7 HD Radio classical music network, also available online at www.wpr.org.
The 2009-2010 Saturday matinees from New York City’s Metropolitan Opera are the longest-running continuous classical program in radio history. The 79th season kicks off with Puccini’s II Trittico, starring Patricia Racette and Stephanie Blythe and conducted by Stefano Ranzani. Twenty-two broadcasts will be presented through May 8. Margaret Juntwait returns as the series host for her sixth season, joined by commentator Ira Siff.
Listeners in the Greater Milwaukee Area wishing to hear the Met Opera broadcasts and other programming over the air from WPR Classical may do so by using an HD Radio. More details, including locations where HD Radios may be purchased in southeastern Wisconsin are available at www.wpr.org/HD.

WHAD 90.7HD Is Home To Classical Music
"90.7 HD2 Classical" provides commercial-free classical music in southeast Wisconsin
Listeners who have purchased an HD receiver experience Wisconsin Public Radio’s 24-hour, commercial-free classical music service at home or
in their car. The WPR HD2 Classical music service presents complete symphonies, chamber works, opera arias, art songs, and choral gems. (Check out the complete schedule). WPR favorites like Jim Fleming, Norman Gilliland, Lori Skelton and others share their passion for the music and their depth of knowledge in a relaxing commercial-free format.
WPR celebrates Milwaukee every week by airing the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Sundays at 2:00 p.m. on 90.7 HD2 Classical.
The HD service is free...listeners sign no annual contracts nor pay subscription fees. HD Radio receivers are now available at Flanner's Home Entertainment in Brookfield and at other consumer electronics stores in Wisconsin and on-line.

About the Milwaukee Office
The downtown Milwaukee office of Wisconsin Public Radio opened in 1989 under the management of Bill Estes. Since then, the Milwaukee office has become home to a full-time reporter, two statewide programs and a full-time corporate development officer. Every weekday, listeners from around the state join in on conversations with Ideas hosts Kathleen Dunn and Ben Merens who broadcast out of the downtown Milwaukee office. Chuck Quirmbach is the Milwaukee-based reporter who covers developments and issues in Southeastern Wisconsin that are of statewide interest. The region’s corporate development officers, Gina Dragutinovich and Adam Rasske help businesses and organizations support WPR.
