Former Scott Walker aide Kelly Rindfleisch will serve up to six months in jail for doing political campaign work while on the payroll of Milwaukee County in 2010. Rindfleisch’s sentencing this afternoon also led to some surprises about Governor Scott Walker.
Just before handing down the sentence, Milwaukee County Judge David Hansher heard from Kelly Rindfleisch, who plead guilty a few weeks ago to misconduct in public office. Rindfleisch apologized for doing months of political campaign work while on county time.
Rindfleisch begged to avoid being sent to jail, saying the move would save taxpayers money. But Judge Hansher did sentence Rindfleisch to six months in a county jail, allowing her to potentially go to work and help care for her 88 year old mother. Hansher also put Rindfleisch on probation for three years.

During much of the criminal proceedings against Rindfleisch, attention had focused on the political work she did for Lieutenant Governor candidate Brett Davis, who is now Gov. Walker’s Medicaid director.
In his remarks before the sentencing, Milwaukee County Prosecutor Bruce Landgraf linked Rindfleisch to numerous communications in 2010 with Scott Walker’s campaign for governor. State Democrats call the revelations troubling.
