UW-La Crosse Student Arrested After Entering Building With Shotgun

University Wisconsin (UW)-La Crosse student has been arrested after carrying a shotgun on campus this morning.

According to a statement from the university, the student was carrying an unloaded hunting shotgun as he entered a campus building. He was apprehended by UW-La Crosse police around 9:30 a.m. this morning. The male part-time student has yet to be named. Campus officials say he had made previous threats to UW-La Crosse administration.

UW-La Crosse Police Chief Scott Rohde said in a statement that no one was injured: “No shots were fired, and there is no further threat to campus.”

Calls made to the UW-La Crosse’s chancellor were unreturned. City of La Crosse Police and UW-La Crosse officials will release more information later this afternoon.
