Gov. Scott Walker says he will focus on winning Iowa, following a string of polls that showed him falling behind other GOP presidential hopefuls.
After a second debate performance in which Walker struggled for airtime, the governor was asked by MSNBC about his strategy going forward, and specifically, whether it was now “Iowa or bust” for him.
“Well, I think we’re putting all our eggs in the basket of Iowa. We’re committed to Iowa, and we think that will help us make our case all throughout the country,” he said.

While it’s no surprise that Walker is focused on Iowa — he has promised to visit all 99 counties — it’s unusual to hear a candidate telegraph his strategy so plainly, especially this early in the campaign cycle.
An Iowa-centric campaign is by no means a surefire path to the presidency: The last two Republicans to win Iowa were former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.
