Gov. Scott Walker is brushing off poll results that show him with an all-time high disapproval rating, while also asserting that his presidential run was a positive thing for Wisconsin.
Walker spoke at a manufacturing expo in Green Bay Thursday, where he emphasized the state’s efforts to get more young people involved in the trades.
Afterward, speaking to reporters, the governor dismissed findings from the Wisconsin Survey that showed him with a 60 percent disapproval rating. The poll also showed most respondents thought his run for higher office reflected badly on the state, but Walker said his campaign allowed him to spread the word about his record in Wisconsin.

“A lot of people didn’t know how amazing things were in the state of Wisconsin,” he said. “They didn’t know, for example, how low the unemployment rate was, they didn’t know how low the tax burden (was).”
Now that his presidential campaign is over, Walker said he’ll spend more time traveling Wisconsin and getting his legislative agendas passed.
