Walker To Drop Out Of Presidential Race, Reports New York Times

Gov. Scott Walker plans on dropping out of the 2016 presidential race, according to The New York Times.

The Times reports that according to anonymous sources — specifically, “three Republicans familiar with his decision” — Walker has decided he doesn’t have the funding to pursue the nomination.

Walker’s campaign has announced he will hold a press conference at 5 p.m. in Madison.

Public support for Walker as a candidate had been dropping precipitously ever since a quiet debate performance at the first GOP debate in July. In a CNN/ORC poll released Sunday, he was polling with less than 1 percent support.

Walker had been an early frontrunner in the race, garnering support nationally and in the early primary state of Iowa well before officially declaring his candidacy in July.
