| A new teacher at a tough, inner-city school in San Diego was fed up with students unable to remember simple math concepts but knew every word of the latest rap song. So he began teaching math through hip-hop. Now his Math Rap is a teaching tool used nationwide. After nine, on Here on Earth: Radio without Borders, Jean Feraca and her guests discuss the pros and cons of hip-hop in the classroom.
Guests:
- Mark Anthony Neal, Professor of African & African-American Studies, Duke University.
- Dawn-Elissa Fischer, Assistant Professor, Department of Africana Studies, San Francisco State University.
- Alex Kajitani, 2009 California Teacher of the Year, Top 4 Finalist, National Teacher of the Year. |
