| A Madison elementary school is to be named for Hmong leader General Vang Pao. But some say he’s responsible for drug trafficking and war crimes, and shouldn’t be honored. Joy Cardin and her guests talk about what’s in a name, and who’s appropriate to name a public facility after.
Guests:
- Shwaw Vang, school board member, Madison Metropolitan School District.
- Gary Yia Lee, visiting professor of Hmong Studies, Concordia University.
- Alfred McCoy, professor of history, UW-Madison. Author, The Politics of Heroin,” and, “A Question of Torture.” |
