This year marks the the 50th anniversary of the first publication of Rachel Carson's, "Silent Spring." Veronica Rueckert's guests, after nine, discuss the historical significance of the book, and take the pulse of the environmental movement today. Guests: - Mark Fiege, associate professor of history and the William E. Morgan Chair of liberal Arts, Colorado State University. Author, "The Republic of Nature: An Environmental History of the United States." - Jenny Price is a environmental writer whose work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times and Audubon. She is the author of "Flight Maps: Adventures with Nature in Modern America". She also writes the environmental advice column, "Green Me Up, JJ!"

Please note that the amount of time required to download a one-hour WPR program will vary depending on the speed of your internet connection. See the table (right) for estimated download times.

Once you click on the "Start Download Now" button below, the download dialog window may not appear for several seconds. Do NOT click on the button more than once or your download request may be refused.

When you start the download, several dialog boxes may appear on your screen:

If a "file download" box appears, simply click the "SAVE" button.
If a "Save-As" box appears, locate a folder where you want to save the MP3 program file and click "SAVE".
Some browsers will automatically save the file to a pre-determined location (often to your desktop or Documents folder).
A "Download Progress" box may appear showing the file downloading to your PC. When the download is completed, you may receive a final "Download Complete" indication. You can then CLOSE this dialog box.
Mac Users: iTunes may automatically launch and start playing the file after it's downloaded.
