Wisconsin Business Joins White House Climate Change Initiative

Wisconsin-based Johnson Controls is one of dozens of companies joining the Obama Administration in supporting a strong climate change agreement at a meeting in Paris this December.

Johnson Controls is one of 81 U.S. firms that took part in a White House signing of the American Business Act on Climate Pledge.

Johnson Controls Vice President Clay Nesler said he hopes the agreement that might be finalized in Paris will include all countries making commitments that their companies will reduce greenhouse gases.

“And they pledge to report on that periodically,” he said. “And hopefully, that will make good progress on what needs to be done and hopefully then ambitions can increase as more cost-effective solutions are found in the future.”

Nesler said Johnson Controls has pledged to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions another 15 percent, after it cut them 41 percent over the past 13 years. Johnson Controls makes energy efficiency devices and building controls and may boost sales if one road to reduced emissions is greater energy efficiency in buildings.
