One of Wisconsin’s Democratic superdelegates is signaling that she and other state party leaders would consider switching their support from Hillary Clinton to Bernie Sanders if he ends up with more pledged representatives come convention time.

Christine Bremer Muggli, a prominent Democrat from Wausau, is one of six superdelegates from Wisconsin currently backing Clinton. She said Friday that she hopes to stick with her support of the former secretary of state, but also that she’s confident that most of the state’s 10 total superdelegates, herself included, would end up supporting whoever wins the most pledged delegates, even if it’s Sanders.

“I believe that if there was some way that Bernie Sanders was able to get more pledged delegates through elections in the primary, that the superdelegates will follow that and bring together the party so that we can win,” Muggli said.

Superdelegates are party notables and elected officials who can cast ballots for whomever they want at the convention, regardless of how their state votes. Case in point, Sanders has just one current superdelegate in his camp despite a commanding primary election win here Tuesday.

Muggli said she believes Clinton is the best choice for the White House, but she said Sanders has helped the party in Wisconsin.

“We have to really hand it to Bernie Sanders for coming in and spending a lot of money and a lot of time in our state, and really energizing the base of Democrats, because we had a huge turnout for Democrats this time,” said Muggli.

Muggli said she has been getting pressure from Sanders supporters to drop Clinton now. Most of their comments, but not all, have been respectful, she said.
