Starting Saturday Dec. 7, WPR Music will accompany you at the opera (formal wear not required), with the resumption of the Metropolitan Opera’s broadcast series from Lincoln Center in New York City, airing every Saturday starting at Noon, through June 2025.
Since 1931, radio broadcasts from “The Metropolitan Opera” have been a Saturday tradition in many American households, and this season’s lineup combines live and archival broadcasts .
Season highlights will include Met Premieres of Jeanine Tesori’s “Grounded” and John Adams’ “Antony and Cleopatra,” new productions of classics like Guiseppe Verdi’s “Aida” and Richard Strauss’ “Salome”, and other favorites including “The Magic Flute” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Giacomo Puccini’s “La Boehme,” and Georges Bizet’s “Carmen.”
