Wisconsin Public Radio welcomes Katy Lang as its new Wausau regional manager. Lang’s work will strengthen and enhance the local connections and engagement that enrich WPR content, and build local bonds with audiences in central Wisconsin.
“Katy will be a terrific manager in our central region,” Regional Director Lisa Nalbandian said. “Her work will help showcase WPR’s commitment to central Wisconsin by fostering local partnerships, and developing regional connections, community engagement and public events.”
Lang joins WPR’s central region team, including Rural Communities Reporter and Interim Assistant News Director Rob Mentzer, Outreach Specialist and “Route 51” Producer Joy Ratchkramer, Corporate Development Representative Jane Ritger, and “Route 51” Host Shereen Siewart.
Lang was born and raised in Marathon, Wis., and graduated from UW-Madison with a journalism degree. Her previous work was as director of development and community engagement for the Grand Theater, Wausau’s downtown cornerstone that hosts hundreds of touring performances and community events each year. While in school in Madison she worked for the Wisconsin Union on campus, developing a passion for public events and community engagement.
Lang’s hobbies include community theater, attending live music, and curling. She also enjoys crafting, particularly if there is a chance to load up on new supplies. “I’m so glad to be part of WPR, and the programming that connects central Wisconsin to the rest of the world,” Lang said. ”I’ll be out in the community right away, learning more about the interests and concerns of people in central Wisconsin, and sharing my love for WPR with my neighbors and friends.”
