Another department store is closing its doors for good in Wisconsin. The Macy’s at La Crosse’s Valley View Mall will close by the end of the year.
It’s among the 68 closures announced by the company Wednesday. The closure in La Crosse will impact 57 employees. Nationwide, 10,000 jobs are being cut. According to the La Crosse Tribune, Macy’s officials say the decision follows a weak holiday shopping season and overall plummeting sales.
Last year, the company announced it was closing the Macy’s at Oakwood Mall in Eau Claire, affecting 55 workers. That store is expected to close within eight to 12 weeks, with final clearance sales beginning Monday.
