David Zucker shooting another state tourism commercial

By

Hollywood director and Wisconsin native David Zucker is back in Wisconsin to shoot another commercial for the Wisconsin Department of Tourism. And this time he’s bringing a guest star along with him.

The Department of Tourism announced that David Zucker’s longtime friend, actor Robert Hayes, of Airplane! fame, will star in the 30 second spot.

Zucker says the north woods theme of the commercial will include Hayes getting into some hijinks: “Bob will be a fisherman on a lake, and will get into some trouble with casting the line. One thing will lead to another and it builds. And I think the last line is ‘You don’t need any special skills to enjoy Wisconsin.’”

This will be the second commercial Zucker has directed for the Department of Tourism. Last December he filmed a spot featuring the Milwaukee symphony orchestra having a snowball fight. Zucker also says he will again donate the reduced fee he earns from the commercial to a California based conservation group.

The tourism department says the new commercial will reach markets in Wisconsin as well as in Chicago, the Twin Cities, Michigan, and Iowa. The department also says production for the commercial will take place this week near Eagle River.
