Sears Holdings has confirmed Kmart stores in West Allis, La Crosse and Medford will be closing in early September.
Online publication Business Insider reported last week the company would be closing the three stores along with 69 others across the United States.
“We have been strategically and aggressively evaluating our store space and productivity, and have accelerated the closing of unprofitable stores as previously announced,” said Howard Riefs, a spokesman for Sears Holdings.

Sears Holdings has already closed 180 stores this year, including Kmarts in Platteville and Racine — store closures announced in January.
The latest Wisconsin closings will impact almost 240 employees, according to a mass layoff notice from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.
Riefs said eligible employees will receive severance and have the opportunity to apply for open positions at area Sears or Kmart stores.
