Gov. Scott Walker is scheduled to meet this weekend with a billionaire casino magnate who spent millions trying to influence the last presidential race.
Walker confirmed that he will speak at the Republican Jewish Coalition this weekend, which is headed up by Sheldon Adelson, the chairman and CEO of the Las Vegas Sands Corporation. Asked about the event by reporters, Walker downplayed its significance.
“I’ve gone to other Republican events, spoke at the national convention and others,” he said. “Just as I’ve done in other platforms, I’ll talk about our success story in Wisconsin and what we’ve accomplished, what we hope to accomplish in the future and how it could impact other states across the country.”

The Washington Post reported this week, however, that the meeting was a chance for Adelson to meet personally with mainstream Republicans that he believes have a shot at winning the White House. In addition to Walker, the post reported that Adelson will meet with former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and Ohio Governor John Kasich.
