A longtime higher education leader has been named interim chancellor at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

UW System President Ray Cross announced Friday that Cheryl Green has agreed to take over the post on Jan. 1. She replaces Beverly Kopper, who resigned after a year in which her husband was banned from campus amid sexual harassment complaints from several women.

Green previously served as assistant vice president for student affairs at Tennessee State University. She brings more than 25 years of experience working in higher education and student affairs, as well as 14 years spent in administration.
