A U.S. Environmental Protection Agency administrator promoted a change in the agency’s Energy Star program during a visit to Milwaukee on Tuesday.
The program’s website now has an interactive section that can help homeowners learn what energy-saving projects will in turn save them the most cash. EPA Regional Administrator Susan Hedman said the website now offers more than lists of advice.
“It will ask you questions about what kind of insulation you have in your house, what kind of windows you have in your house, what kind of heating system you have in your house, and the vintage of some of those components, and help to prioritize the things that are most important to do that will save the most money,” she said.

Hedman talked about the program after touring a Milwaukee manufacturing company that has installed energy saving boilers and production machines.
