Since OpenAI released ChatGPT to the public in late 2022, media and scholars have grappled with generative artificial intelligence (AI) and its implications for nearly every aspect of daily life. Consumers have been presented with many new free and costly AI tools. Workplaces have experimented with AI for a variety of tasks. Keeping up with this change is difficult! In this talk, Robin Miller will explore what artificial intelligence is—and what artificial intelligence is not. We will explore a variety of cases in we might consider using AI, from practical and ethical standpoints. The audience will gain knowledge about everyday uses of AI, but more critically, they will be able to consider why they might embrace or resist artificial intelligence.
