Watch 12 international sculpture artists, during this week-long festival, create new works live before your eyes. The opening ceremony will feature the Sanford WhiteEagle Color Guard, Wisconsin Dells Dancers and the Thundercloud Singers. The entire festival is in honor of the late, beloved Ho-Chunk artist, Harry Whitehorse, who called Monona, WI his home and was an inspiration to so many artists in the region.
It takes place at San Damiano Monona, a truly one-of-a-kind, iconic park on the banks of Lake Monona. The sculptors hail from Peru, Turkey, Germany, Switzerland, India, Canada, the Czech Republic, Poland and Ukraine providing an enormous opportunity for cultural exchange.
Other events include Chicago blues band The Cashbox Kings on Tuesday, June 18 at the Biergarten at San Damiano. And Make Music Monona will be on site Friday, June 21.
Festival goers will be dazzled by the artistry, welcomed by the culture and taken in by the nature of the magical San Damiano property. They can watch demonstrations of live sculpture and Ho-Chunk arts & crafts such as black ash basketry, porcupine quill art and fingerweaving.
