The Science of Meditation

September 30 @ 7:00 pm8:30 pm

$10 – $30

Does meditation “work”? If so, what does meditation do, and how does it do what it’s purported to do?

Discover the science of meditation with distinguished neuroscientist and psychologist Dr. Richard Davidson. Dr. Davidson’s groundbreaking research into the underpinnings of meditation and well-being has pioneered the field of contemplative neuroscience. A friend and confidant of the Dalai Lama, his work with advanced meditators continues to expand our understanding of how an ancient contemplative practice can be adapted to foster health and flourishing in the modern world.

Join us on for a hybrid event on Monday, September 30, at 7 PM CDT to learn, ask questions, and experience a guided meditation practice with Dr. Davidson. Attend in person at Gordon Commons on the UW-Madison campus or virtually on Zoom for what promises to be an insightful and uplifting evening of discovery.

Dr. Davidson is the founder of the Center for Healthy Minds and the William James and Vilas Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He was named one of “The 100 Most Influential People in the World” in 2006 by Time Magazine.
