Anyone Experiencing COVID-19 Symptoms On Milwaukee’s North Side Can Still Get Tested

The Wisconsin National Guard is pausing community COVID-19 testing at their Midtown Center location this week. The site was popular for Milwaukee residents living in the city’s north side neighborhoods.

But city officials announced Tuesday that nine testing sites are available for those residents.

“In addition to the work of the National Guard, our healthcare system has testing available for symptomatic individuals at multiple locations across the city,” Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett said in a statement.

“Do not let cost, lack of insurance or absence of a primary care doctor keep you from receiving care. There are plenty of resources available to help you during this time, and we want to encourage you to take advantage of them to keep yourself, and your community, safe,” he said.

Anyone who is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms can call to set up an appointment at one of the nine locations. There are no insurance, income, or immigration restrictions for receiving a test.

Milwaukee Common Council president Cavalier Johnson said in a statement that although the free testing at the Midtown Center will be on hiatus, people still have testing options.

“I want to thank everyone involved that assisted operating the free testing site at Midtown during the past two weeks. The venture proved highly successful,” Johnson said. “For those who are still experiencing symptoms and want to get tested, options still exist.”

COVID-19 testing sites on the city’s north side are offered by Ascension Wisconsin, Advocate Aurora Health, Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Health Services, Inc., Outreach Community Health Centers and Progressive Community Health Centers.

The city’s south side testing location at UMOS headquarters is still operating from 11a.m. to 8 p.m through Saturday.
