Update – 5:45pm: Lawmakers and members of the public have been given the all-clear to return to the Capitol building.
Police have evacuated the Wisconsin state Capitol following what officials are describing a “credible bomb threat.”
Shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday, reporters from various media outlets covering a session of the state Assembly took to Twitter with reports that Capitol police were clearing the building and nearby grounds. A selection of their tweets are included below.

The Assembly was in the early stages of what was expected to be a long floor session on the biennial state budget bill.
